where to take engagement pictures in dallas

Do you need help figuring out where to take engagement pictures in Dallas or Fort Worth?  Information on picking places for your Dallas Fort Worth engagement pictures  is important so that as your Dallas Fort Worth  wedding photographer, you are given the most emotional, romantic, reflective and timeless images of you during your engagement and wedding day.

Lately, I’ve been all about the engagement sessions!  Which is awesome by the way, because these pictures mark the very beginning of your new life together.  You’re no longer just dating.  These are pictures with a purpose!

Most brides and grooms find where to take engagement pictures in Dallas that are typical and well, let’s be honest… maybe a little boring.  I’m not going to name any particular locations here, but I am going to walk you through how to pick locations for your Dallas Fort Worth  engagement pictures.

  1. Think about how your home or future home will be decorated.  Are you funky and a little wild, or more traditional.   If the décor in your home is more traditional, rustic or full of vintage pieces, Deep Ellum is probably not going to be a good fit for example.  The goal is to get some gorgeous canvases of your Dallas Fort Worth  engagement pictures and put them up on the walls in your home.  Deep Ellum is not going to make sense in this case and vice versa for a more modern home.  Places with intricate architecture and traditional lines such as a college campus may not make the most sense if your home is all about clean lines and crisp décor. .  You also want your images to be timeless so you can display them for years to come.
  2. Pick places that are meaningful to you.  If you grew up in Fort Worth , it makes a lot more sense to do your pictures in Dallas Fort Worth  instead of Dallas.  Other options include going to the places where you first met, had a great first date or even the place that he proposed to you!  Often times, the venue you’ve chosen to have your wedding at will allow engagement pictures and bridal pictures to be taken there at no additional charge.  This actually works out perfect given the fact you picked your venue because you love it and it reflects your personal style.
  3. A third option is to pick locations based on things you like to do together.  I recently met with a bride and we discussed doing part of her session on a tennis court because her and her fiancé are very athletic and love to play sports together.  I personally LOVE this particular idea!  Now if the weather would cooperate we can get her session done!  Brrrrr!

That’s it!  Easy, right?  When we meet to talk about your Dallas wedding photography, I will help you pick some locations to use for your Dallas Fort Worth  engagement pictures.  Most couples use  2-4 locations during their Dallas Fort Worth  engagement session.  Below, I listed some places that could be fun to try.

I had such a lovely afternoon with Kim, Phillip and their dog, Maggie!  The February weather was more spring like which was great because Kim got to wear an adorable green dress and cute pair of wedges!  We did an impromptu picnic at the lake with champagne, cheese and fruit, played frisbee with Maggie and hit the Dallas Arts District and Dallas Farmers Market!  I am over the moon excited to photograph their wedding at Scottish Rite and Perkins Chapel this July.  It comes complete with peacocks and sparkles!  Maybe Maggie will be a part of the wedding party?!  Congrats to these fellow Techies!  xoxo -k
